Interview

Official guide

Here is an exclusive excerpt from the latest La-me Brother's interview. Beware; it features content not for the faint hearted.

Where does the name La-mé Brothers come from?

"La-mé is a lovely fabric; Kerry Anne likes to wear a bit of La-mé. It’s one of those great fabrics, we’re making a fabric statement. It’s kind of gold, gold sequins that are kind of stuck together. On Kerry Anne, you kind of thing La-me is a “oh my god”…. Nasty, but on Heather Lochlear, it’s a different story."

How did you guys meet?

"We work in an abattoir, a native animal abattoir. The place we work in specialises in ringtail possum. It’s amazing how the little old ladies turn up to look for some of the scraps."

How long have you guys been going for?

Probably about eight or nine years now. We’ve have other gigs and sort of see La-me as a bit of a side project.

About

In the summer of 2003 Ridgway and Kenny began a musical collaboration that would define “Sleaze” and “Rock” in a way nobody else had. Limbering up on his brand new Maton MS520 electric and Kenny on a variety of bass guitars from Fender Precision and Jazz to G&L and even an acoustic bass; the boys explored the psyche of men in relation to women, sex and ego.

With hard rock tones at the core and self-deprecatory humour at the helm, La-mé Brother songs are meant to make people grin whilst they rock. With no rock cliché unturned, the music thumps at the crux of what men are thinking. Ridgway and Kenny are … The La-mé Brothers

From the murky depths of Melbourne’s musical underworld come The La-mé Brothers Fefiling computers and laptops around the world. Ridgway and Kenny are the melodic underbelly of Melbourne’s streets. As native abattoir workers by day The La-mé Brothers look innocent enough as they turn ring-tailed possums into ring-shaped sausages and rock wallabies into pot roasts.

La-mé Brothers image 02Now plying their musical trade any way they can, the boys trawl the cyber gutters looking for fans. Many of La-mé Brothers fans have discovered their music via online means. Including their myspace and mp3.com.au sites. One fan states “I am a La-mé Brothers fan from way back in the days when Twisted Wedding jumped onto Mp3 in its punk glory.

This band has done it again and again with their own unique bent on the songs of a Sleazebag. Top funking Sleazebag!!” Kenny and Ridgway (who funnily enough met at an abbatoir where they both worked) are still together eight years down the track. Although they aren’t heavily into live performance, all this is about to change with the announcement of their upcoming Sleazebag Tour in 2010, kicking off in January.
