Where does the name La-mé Brothers come from?
La-mé is a lovely fabric; Kerry Anne likes to wear a bit of La-mé. It’s one of those great fabrics, we’re making a fabric statement. It’s kind of gold, gold sequins that are kind of stuck together. On Kerry Anne, you kind of thing La-me is a “oh my god”…. Nasty, but on Heather Lochlear, it’s a
different story.
Do you have any La-mé for us?
We’ve got pants made out of La-mé, which we like to wear. Kenny’s got the undies on, but I think he’s to scared to show you.
How long have you guys been going for?
Probably about eight or nine years now. We’ve have other gigs and sort of see La-me as a bit of a side project.
What’s all this dirty talk about? That’s kind of the theme of La-me Brothers isn’t it?
We kind think of ourselves, we kind of set ourselves a genre of ‘sleaze rock’. It’s a term that we ‘think’ we invented. Hopefully ‘sleaze rock’ will become illegal in some states.
What makes you think ‘Ok I’m going to write something really sleazy’?
Images of the phone sex girls on television. When I look at Minnie Mouse, she’s good because you can grab her ears.
How did you guys meet?
We work in an abattoir, a native animal abattoir. The place we work in specialises in ringtail possum. It’s amazing how the little old ladies turn up to look for some of the scraps.
Now Ridgway, you sing do you also play guitar at the same time and Kenny you play bass?
Yeah I sing as well as play, Kenny generally plays bass and does some of the programming.
So do you guys have a full unit together?
We have a drummer as well which we use for some of our recordings.
So you guys don’t perform live, right?
We did once (laughs). But we’re on the trail of getting into that more. The first gig at the ESPE went pretty well. 200/300 drunk screaming people having a good time. We blew it away at the end of the night.
